My bags are handmade with love from both vintage and new upcycled Japanese Kimonos and Obis (embroidered belts). Almost all are made with silk material. Watching my mother sew Kimonos growing up, I was intrigued by the vibrant colors of Kimonos and Obis and their intricate designs. The Kimono wearing culture is disappearing, so I felt the responsibility to protect them from going to landfills and also to preserve them in a way that people can enjoy in their daily lives and on special occasions.
A portion of proceeds from my participation in this event will be donated to the Fisher House, and VA supporting recovering veterans and their families through their hardest times.
